We did it! In December, Chiarina embarked on a campaign to raise $15,000 for a Steinway concert piano, which was slated to be matched 1-1 by a generous donor for a total of $30,000. We are pleased to report that we have now met our goal! Huge and heartfelt thank yous all around to over 50 contributors who helped us make this significant project a reality.
We are grateful to the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, whose grant in the amount of $62,700 jumpstarted our piano campaign. One of our long-standing goals, a state-of-the-art instrument will not only increase Chiarina’s stature and visibility as a series, but also ensure many seasons of live chamber music to come. We look forward most of all to sharing the piano with you, our listeners!
The selected instrument is being finished by a master builder at New York City’s Klavierhaus and is slated for completion in May.
