On April 8, Chiarina’s commissioning project came to a head with a premiere performance of “The Best Cuisine,” by Carlos Simon, scored for baritone and piano trio. Special thanks to Chamber Music America for a Classical Commissioning Grant, which made this collaboration possible! Chiarina brought together baritone Carl DuPont, violinist Domenic Salerni, and Chiarina’s artistic directors Carrie Bean Stute and Efi Hackmey for the performance. Composer Carlos Simon introduced the work from the stage.

Simon is the current composer-in-residence at the Kennedy Center. Read more about him here. And check out the review of the concert in the Washington Classical Review.
Finally, for any German-speakers out there, German public radio featured a story on “The Best Cuisine,” Simon’s creative process, and how it came into being. It includes music from Chiarina’s live performance. Have a listen!
