In the fall of 2022, Chiarina was thrilled to present the Grammy-winning Attacca Quartet at three DC public schools: Stuart-Hobson Middle School, Eliot-Hine Middle School, and Eastern High School. This visit was funded through the Capitol Hill Community Foundation’s inaugural John Franzén Award for the Arts.
In October of 2023, Chiarina brought the acclaimed Aizuri Quartet to Stuart-Hobson Middle School, where they presented an interactive performance and Q&A session.
The ensembles performed a wide range of music from the string quartet repertory, from Beethoven to Caroline Shaw, and engaged students in conversations about ensemble playing, composing music, and career paths in music.
In the fall of 2022, Chiarina artist Karla Donahew-Perez (Catalyst Quartet) joined Chiarina artistic directors in a visit to a string orchestra class at Levine@THEARC, where they performed trios for students and coached them on their ensemble music.
