Welcome to Chiarina’s 12th season, Tell the Story!
We are delighted to invite you to our upcoming season, Tell the Story. Our 12th season embodies the power of music to tell stories and to connect us. Over seven concerts from October to May, we will embrace the rich traditions of chamber music while celebrating its dynamic evolution in the 21st century.
Please join us to experience the “sheer beauty and joy,” in the words of one concertgoer, of hearing some of the most engaging artistic voices of today, live and up close at St. Mark’s Capitol Hill.
Highlights of our season include:
- Timeless cornerstones of the chamber music repertory by Brahms, Mozart, Fauré, and more
- Two Chiarina commissions and world premieres: Lori Laitman’s Tell the Story, with timely text by poet Joseph Fasano, and Reinaldo Moya’s Mismo Sol (Same Sun), supported by the Library of Congress’s Koussevitzky Foundation
- A spring spotlight on Beethoven in honor of the 200th anniversary of his death, featuring two trios and the Quintet for Piano and Winds
- The return of popular guest artists, including NSO concertmaster Nurit Bar-Josef, clarinetist Ricardo Morales, baritone Randall Scarlata, violinist Domenic Salerni, Imani Winds, and more
- The Chiarina debut of the award-winning Jasper Quartet, flutist Mimi Stillman, and more
- Several works inspired by poetry or legends, including Schoenberg’s luminous Transfigured Night for string sextet
- Music by seven living composers, including 2026 Pulitzer Prize winner Gabriela Lena Frank
- A family concert celebrating the stories and music of two significant DC composers
As always, concert commentary and post-concert conversations will extend the listening experience. We look forward to seeing you soon!
