At a ceremony on May 24, Chiarina artistic directors Carrie Bean Stute and Efi Hackmey accepted the inaugural John Franzén Award for the Arts from the Capitol Hill Community Foundation. Thanks to the generosity of this $25,000 award, Chiarina will host the Grammy award-winning Attacca Quartet for a mini-residency in Capitol Hill this fall. The quartet will perform public concerts on October 1 and 2, make visits to public school classrooms, and more.

The award is named for the late Capitol Hill community member John Franzén, who dedicated himself to transforming the institutions in his neighborhood and had a particular love for music.
